I'm interested in checking out an AndroidTV box as a consolidated streamer (Netflix, Amazon Video, DVR frontend, local music/video). But, I haven't seen any firm release plans.

The main reason I'm interested in AndroidTV is for the MPEG2 playback. Many other devices can do Netflix, Amazon, HBO, etc. But surprisingly few can support the huge amount of content from US broadcast TV. Will all devices support MPEG2, or will it be a research project to map out capabilities like with the Google TV boxes?
