Yeah I wish the game controller had a mic built in. I use it almost exclusively for controlling my Android TV. One trick that I did find was that if you open the app on your phone or tablet you can leave it open and then navigate with the controller to a mic icon on the device and then use the app for voice input.

I sure hope so. My wife keeps the remote and I have to use the Android TV Remote app. It's not nearly as good as physical buttons. I have started transitioning to using the gamepad as a remote which helps a bit but I would buy a second Nexus Player remote in a heartbeat.
