The only THX-Certified 4K TV is an Android TV by Sharp

This is good news Android TV as I think the TV lines will bring a lot of customers who aren't savvy enough to choose a particular set top box over another. The more users that come to Android, the more developers will take the platform seriously. I'm hopeful that it won't be too long for Android to be the primary platform that everyone develops for.

I bought the new Sony 4k android TV and honestly don't see anything special so far, no good apps that my Apple TV already doesn't have, am I missing something?

I recently exchanged my old 4k Sharp (UB30 I believe) for Sony's 4k television (the 850 model). The quality of picture is noticeably improved in Sony's offering. Not mention the latency in Sharps televisions is beyond horrific. My two cents for anyone in the market.

I think buying a TV with Android TV is a waste of time and money personally. Good luck having useful features enabled and added to your TVs Android TV. nVidia is doing some pretty awesome things with their STB, but there is no way in hell any TV manu is gonna spend time to enable mpeg2, etc or even read forums about your issues. I'll just stick with an STB by a company that cares.

I saw one of these sharp TVs in action. The picture is absolutely beautiful.
