Best Android TV Games?

by eoinster

What games would y'all recommend for the SHIELD TV that work with the controller? I have a few that I'm unsure about, could anyone verify whether they support the controller and the SHIELD or not?

  • Knights of the Old Republic

  • GTA games

  • Max Payne

Thanks guys.

I've had the Nvidia SHIELD TV for almost a week now and I've been geekin' out harder than I have in a long time. I can confirm that all the GTA games work, Knight of the Old Republic, and Max Payne all work, although I did have to sideload Max Payne.

Other games to check out:

  • Asphalt 8
  • Badland
  • Dead Trigger 2
  • Doom 3
  • Exiles
  • Goat Simulator
  • Leo's Fortune
  • NOVA 3 (had to sideload, launch from Settings>Apps)
  • Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath
  • Rayman Fiesta Run
  • Riptide 2
  • Shadowgun (had to sideload and use mouse to map buttons)
  • Soul Calibur
  • Sky Gamblers: Storm Raiders
  • Talos Principle
  • Tomb Raider
  • The Walking Dead Season 1 & 2 (if you're into Telltale games)

I've been playing around with the Modern Combat games and they're glitchy as hell, even though they're in the actual Store for Android TV. Also, emulators have been working well - I've played some N64, PSP, and SNES games.

Trine 2 is good. Can't confirm the ones you listed but don't forget that there's a return window after purchase for you to make sure things work.

KoTOR works. It's even one of the highlight games. Not sure about the others. I also wanted to mention (because I recently discovered how awesome it is), if you have an NVidia graphics card in your PC, you can stream games over your local network. Steam has a great catalog of new and old games with controller support.

Valiant Hearts is a great game if you are looking for something different. It is puzzle based but also mixes in some history lessons and I've had lots of fun with it.

If you haven't played Portal yet, it looks and runs great on the Shield with the controller. I did notice that it loads a fair bit slower if you have it installed to an SD card, but that is to be expected.

I had never played Portal more than a few minutes on a friend's computer, and it was a game I knew I would like so I used a bit of the Google play credit for it.

Definitely worth the money if you never got around to playing it.
