App that adds m3u IPTV streams to the Live Channels app?

by efstajas

I acquired some TV m3u files containing TV streams. I already got them working in Kofi perfectly, but I would love to add it to Live Channels. Is there any app that supports that?

Oh man, I want this so much.

Ever since I installed the Pluto.TV I've dreamed of a customizable list of IPTV channels.

Maybe someone could write a Kodi plugin to expose those channels to the Live Channels app ?

Edit:

For any lurking Dev: Here's the page that talks about building an app like OP mentions, and a sample app in github.

In the ATV G+ Group there are several devs working on related projects that could end up being what we want.

Can we make devs notice we really want this ?

I've made some good progress on the app over the weekend. A sample stream/channel now appears in the channel and can be played with little latency. Now I have to start integrating some of the other features like program guides (and figure out how to get that data), work a little more on scaling (and figuring out the GitHub project some more), and creating a user interface for entering custom streams.

You can continue to follow progress at this github project: https://github.com/Fleker/CumulusTV

I'll take a look at this over the weekend and see how easy it'll be to implement. It should already support the file format, so I think it's just a matter of implementing the framework. I was planning on playing with live channels anyway.

How should you add streams? Typing in with a keyboard? Just have a static amount/set up by a web URL? Some sort of cloud syncing (won't be a v1 feature)?

getting an Nvidia Shield soon and cutting the cord. This is exactly what I need. Hopeful for future development with Live Channels. I can only imagine if SlingTV could be added.
