I've been waiting with baited breath for this app to expand it's functionality.
In the announcement they mentioned more sources like HuffPo and Vevo among others. It's been how many months though?
Is there anything that works right now other than Pluto.tv and HDHomeRun tuners? Any word on when new stuff will be released?
A dev here. Yes it's up to the app to support this feature. It's not particularly easy to get started with.
I have been developing an open source app which lets you add m3u8 files as channels. Even with a simple task I struggled trying to figure out this system. The documentation isn't very helpful and I feel like there are a few bugs in the app that I need to work around.
This challenge plus the small market of TV devices likely prevents most devs from creating a TV channel.
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it is required of the app creator to add the integration with Live Channels.
