I'm obviously pressing my luck here, but has there been any discussion on rooting the Sony Android TV? Is it likely to be very complicated? I just recently rooted my Google TV and while I want to upgrade, it would be sad to lose all the benefits of rooting
I wouldn't root until your warranty expires on the TV
I always want to root, if something runs a posix compilant system under the hood. I bought it, I want to control it.
I wonder if kingroot would work. :) Not brave enough to try. Maybe I'll sideload it in a big electronic store and test it there :D Has someone an idea of how to get out of retail mode?
What's your reason for root?
You may not want to root it if you don't have factory image available. Lollipop OTA updates break with root. You may miss updates that expand functionality. If there is a flashable factory image at least you can return to stock to get updates (then attempt root of updated firmware)
