Has anyone been able to fake their location via DNS or VPN on Android TV?

by Kalinskym

It doesn't seem to work the same way as Android. I cannot seem to fake the location via any VPN application.

I don't use a software VPN, instead I have a raspberry pi configured as vpn-gw and dhcp-server. It routes all the traffic of my shield console into a VPN tunnel. Works fine with netflix.

DNS works fine

Do you have a subscription to a website, e.g. unblock.us

I've tried it and it doesn't work on the Nvidia Shield TV.

Why doesn't VPN work

There's literally an option in the Android TV OS to enter custom DNS servers.

I can confirm that Unlocator works perfectly with the Nexus Player when their DNS servers are set on the router.

I installed the private internet access app by side loading it. It appears sideways on the screen. It will connect but there is no way to click the drop-down to change what location you connect to. It auto picks the location with the lowest latency.
