Issues with my Andoid TV

by matt_2807

I have had my Android Tv for around a month now, Sony KDL-43W755C.

The picture is Amazing and the Tv looks great. It is just so incredibly slow..everything takes time be it switching inputs waiting about half an hour for the content on my external hdd to load up opening the tv guide changing channel basically everything it does is slow.

I really cant imagine they would release a TV like this knowing it ran so poorly. Is anyone else having similar experiences?

The downside of smart TVs.

I'm not a fan of the TV's that have smart components built into them; i prefer the Nexus player because it is running all the time, it doesn't need time to boot up when you turn the TV on, it already is on.. Also, you can toss a Nexus player in the garbage when you want a new version, but if you get android TV built into your television, then you need to throw the whole TV in the garbage to upgrade the smart component.

About faster reading time on your external HDD: try getting a NAS enclosure rather than reading the drive via USB.

As far as switching inputs goes: I guess that can be a pain if you still use game consoles or cable boxes.. It isn't an issue for me though, I don't subscribe to cable, and I don't have a game console... I have zero reason to switch inputs; if there's ever content that my Nexus player can't handle, I can usually access it on my laptop and Chromecast that to the Nexus player.

It's just going to be slow. I have the 49 inch model, and I ran 3dMark on it. My score was a whopping 147. The processing power in the Smart TV's is very weak.

That said, it plays NetFlix, Plex, Mubi, FoxSports2Go, and Pandora just fine. If I switch inputs to my laptop, it does fine as well.
