I'm trying to figure out how Kodi and ES FileExplorer works.
not much is required for a tutorial. once you have an APK to install, just drop it onto a usb stick or a storage device you can access over your network, then open the APK by navigating to it via a file explorer app on your android device
Kodi doesn't need to be side-loaded. What exactly is it that you're trying to do?
Open es file explorer
Go to network on the sidebar
Click remote manager.
Click start or on.
Look at the IP (ftp//:192.168.1.4) something similar to that.
Get cyberducking on your PC/Mac or fx file manager on your Android phone and it'll connect. (/u/proxicent says es will connect to other es devices so just get es on both devices)
Add connection in cyberducking.
Transfer files back and forth
I've been browsing the playstore from my macbook and installing apps remotely to my ShieldTV from there (including apps not found in the Android TV playstore). Sideload launcher is also no longer needed to launch them.
I use es file Explorer.
Pick a cloud service provider(drive/Dropbox etc. Upload apk's you want to install from another pc or your phone.
In es file Explorer on the AndroidTV scroll down to cloud, click new, select cloud storage you picked. Log in.
Navigate to your folder, click the apk it will download and install
