Google Nexus Player not recognized when I turn on my TV

by Dowarner

I have installed Android M on my Nexus Player. Love this box. It plays cable great through HD Homerun Prime. Plex works great.

I have a problem now that once I turn off my TV, when I turn it back on, the player isn't recognized and I have to do a hard restart. Any ideas of a fix?

Do you mean if the tv is fully off or in standby?

Is M stable enough, and did you test the new features that come with it?

Sounds unstable but the folks at XDA developers might be able to help you out.

This happens to mine running 5.1.1 sometimes too. Mine is connected to a surround sound system then that goes to the TV. Sometimes when I turn everything on, it's just a blue screen and the HDMI light doesn't come on on the amp. If I press some buttons on the nexus remote, then turn the amp and TV off for 10 seconds and back on, it usually works.

That's a common issue with some HDMI receivers - happens the same with my Onkyo. It's annoying as hell and as far as I know it's an Intel driver issue (adb log gets spammed with VSync couldn't be locked).

Turning on/off the receiver sometimes helps. Replugging HDMI always helps. Downgrading down to 5.0 (the issue started appearing in 5.1) always helps.

Of course Google obviously doesn't give a damn about fixing it.
