Shield TV users, which Kodi install are you using? 15.1 from Play store locks up for me constantly.

by henbone11

I had TVMC installed before, which I think was version 14.2, and never had an issue. I decided to update to the latest available from the Play store and now I get lockups constantly. I am very familiar with Kodi on Android, but am concerned that the version in the Play store is for Android Arm devices and not x86, which the Shield TV shows up as in Kodi settings.

So my question is, which version is everyone running smoothly? Should I just get the x86 Android version from the site and sideload it? Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks.

Shield is not an x86 device..

You may have loaded the X86 version in the past, and you can do that, but the Shield Tegra X1 is an ARM CPU. I was running the X86 version for quite a while on 14.2. Since the play store one has been available I am running that, and it has been fine.

I'm running the version from Play without issue.

hmm Odd then. I'll just uninstall and reinstall. Thanks for the info.

I am not seeing these issues on ADT-1 (ARM) with 15.1 updated from the originally installed Play Store 15 RC. Hopefully that will continue. Hope your reinstall fixes your issues.

No issues with current play store version for me.

Just updated it last night. I noticed it will freeze up during a specific action; pressing stop when a stream is opening in Genesis. I have to force stop the app from the settings menu.

I installed a version using this tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android-tv/nvidia-shield-android-tv/app-amazon-firetv-utility-app-v0-01-t3131937

The Kodi install has a different splash screen upon boot up - apparently it's optimised for the Shield in some way, but I'm not sure how!
