Does VLC on android TV support subtitles, and if yes, can you change their font?

MX Player does and it works extremely well for any video type. It also supports colored subs and you can modify the font and font attributes in the settings.

I tried VLC on my Android TV and it had issues with playback and codec support compared to MX Player.

To answer the question: yes, VLC for Android TV does support subtitles, and you can change their encoding but not their font. Also the network browsing is currently broken.

Use Kodi instead where everything can be configured and works OOB.
