I don't need the extra power of the Shield exactly, or a game controller, but the Nexus Player currently is just a little too weak, and I do need Ethernet. I'm interested in this - wired networking, more RAM and storage and ARM rather than x86 please, Google.
All I want is HDMI pass thru to feed into Live Channels. Is that so much to ask?
Doesn't seem likely, even tho HDMI Pass thru was mentioned in the first Android TV announcement.
I'm pretty skeptical. There doesn't seem to be an HDMI port, plus the port setup doesn't make a lot of sense. The FCC docs aren't public, so we can't really know that much.
Possibly it's not a TV, but some sort of wireless speaker using Google's new music cast. Then there's the possibility of a Chrome OS device or something altogether new.
But ... 4 USB ports + 1 microUSB? Why?
Well crap. Glad I just bought two of the old model :D
With the massive sale from Groupon 2 days ago, this was a possibility; glad I did not bite; waiting for this new one :)
Hopefully it has an Ethernet port this time. That's the only reason I didn't purchase one. I still have a non-smart TV that I'd love to get a Nexus Player for, but with all the wireless devices going all the time in my house, it would have to be wired in.
sweet. im secretly hoping they'll release a 2nd gen nexus player. I love the GUI of AndroidTV, but the current one is a little weak. also, the audio dropouts when plugged in the receiver are very annoying.
Interesting. Not something I would buy but would certainly appeal to everyone who was whining about lack of USB ports and Ethernet.
It would help if applications were actually developed for the Android TV.
