Shield TV questions

by inkubux

I live in canada and i'm having an eye at the shield TV but buying it from amazon brings the price to 319$ after taxes/conversion and shipping, which is a bit high.

The main reason I want to switch is for the headjack on the controller and the hevc codec.

I currently use a bluetooth transmitter and a bluetooth headset to watch Movies/Shows on my cuboxi-4pro but the latency is killing me. I have to adjust it to 200ms every time in kodi, which makes it painful for nothing. How is the latency on the Controller and How is the sound quality?.

I don't want to pay 300$+ just to have the same "issue" with latency.

Also have kodi running on the shield, on my cuboxi-4pro. I would say it's ok but not stellar with some more demanding plugins

Thanks for your answers

Latency with the audio via controller is essentially nonexistent. I can't say if that's because the connection is so quick or because it automatically adjusts, but you shouldn't have any problems.

That being said, the Roku 3 has this feature built in as well and is much cheaper/probably available in Canada already. I just can't be sure about its hevc codec support.

Kodi is awesome on the Shield. I've used Kodi/XBMC on many devices and computers and the Shield was the smoothest.

i use bluetooth headphones with mine without any issue. no latency issue with the controller either.

I have the SHIELD TV and I've used headphones in both the controller and the remote and the audio has no latency. I also have the Roku 3 and the wireless audio in the SHIELD TV is just as good, probably because they both use Wi-Fi direct.

Using the shield with a Bluetooth headset and have had some latency when the batteries begin to get low. I just slide the audio offset back about 0.2 of a Second and good to go.
