Does Minecraft Pocket Edition work with Android TV?

I've done some research and haven't found anything conclusive as to whether or not Minecraft can be played on Android TV (specifically the Nvidia Shield TV). According to Nvidia's website, the game does not include native controller support but has a custom Controller Mapper Profile specifically created for NVIDIA SHIELD. Can anyone confirm this and that it can be mapped with the Shield TV?

Works perfectly sideloaded on nexus player with xbox 360 controller plugged in via otg no setup needed

I sideloaded the APK last week after the update came out to allow Bluetooth controllers. It works great. My son plays it daily.
