Customizing Backdrop daydream on Shield TV

Question

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to change the settings of the Backdrop daydream on the Shield TV to show photos from your own albums.

It's easy to do on the Chromecast with the Chromecast app but the Shield TV doesn't show up in that app. I guess because of the difference between Chromecasting and Google Casting?

Android TV suffers from a serious lack of user customisation options. I know it's supposed to be simple, but it's just too damn simple. We've all got smartphones that we can change wallpapers and sounds and layouts, why does this version of android need to be so locked down?

There's a new app called Slideshow for Picasa that allows you to use your own photos for Daydream. I literally JUST downloaded this so I haven't tested it out yet.
