Do you play games on your Android TV?

by ronakg

I got the Nexus Player last week. Games didn't figure in my purchase decision, but looks like there's decent selection of casual games for Android TV. I've tried Riptide GP2, Leo's Fortune so far, and they are fun for some casual time-pass.

Do you play any games on your Android TV? If so, which games?

I have the Shield TV, wasn't sure if I'd game much at all on it because I'm into PC gaming but the thing is a monster when it comes to gaming. So far I've been playing the Lego Lord of the Rings game with my wife, and messing around in pixeljunk shooter and monsters, all streaming through Geforce Now. Borderlands is pretty good too though the controller and network latency make it a little frustrating.

Other than that, goat simulator and the Telltale games (walking dead and Tales of the Borderlands) are also fun. And Loco Roco and Wipeout Pulse emulated through PPSSPP

Shield ATV here. I stream my steam library to TV. Lots of street fighter IV, Broforce and other games. Moonlight may work for you, if you have a decent PC.

To play games on my Android TV (Sony Bravia), I switch the input to HDMI 4 and press the PlayStation button on my Dualshock 4.

I didn't think I would but the Shield is a surprisingly good gaming machine. Had never played the Talos Principle before and it ran silky smooth in 1080p on the Shield. Really great game.

Not a lot. There's not a great selection of native apps on my Nexus Player, which I bought to replace an Ouya (which has about 4x as many good games, and about 10x as many overall).

We use it to play Jackbox Party Pack with groups of friends, a few other multiplayer games like Bombsquad, and lots of emulated games.

Mostly we use it as a media player (Plex, Youtube, Netflix).

Probably will play more now that the Nexus Player supports external storage. But really the limit for us is the lack of games we want to play. Might look into what options I have for side-loading, but not sure it's worth the hassle to me especially if I have to deal with quirks of controller support and whatnot.

I went through a phase of emulators and San Andreas but I haven't played a game on it for a while now.

I had intended to just use it as a media player to replace my old WDTV, but the Shield Android TV is just too awesome. The Lego Movie game is awesome with the local co-op gamestream, also BadLands is such silly fun locally. Minecraft with antimicro to make the gamepad push keyboard buttons is great. Lots of the games are great - and I hate gamepads, but this thing just makes it fun.

That's what I mainly do on it. I play mostly emulators (PSP, PSX, SNES, and NDS mainly). I also occasionally watch YouTube on it. I use a Nyko Playpad Pro, by the way, to play these.

Shield TV here too. Windward is an awesome casual game to play.

Just put an emulator on recently for Zelda. That's it so far.

The 6.0 storage update has gotten me interested in games on the Nexus Player. I even bought the gamepad over the weekend. I really don't know gaming so I am depending on reviewers to help. So far I've done Badland, Riptide Gp2, Leo's Fortune, I don't really have the twitch reflexes to do those serious shooters so these kinds of games are good for me.
