Using the nvidia shield TV remote with a nexus player on android 6.0, can you use the headphone jack?

by nvincent

It is kind of a weird question. I want to use the headphone jack in the shield tv's remote to listen to shows at night when people are asleep. I have a nexus player though, which on lollipop did not support that functionality. Does anyone know if that is doable on 6.0?

Thanks!

I just got it. You can't use headphones with the shield remote and the nexus player unless you are already deaf; there is no volume control and it is permanently set at max. Also, I can't get voice search to work currently.

I don't think this is possible (I could be wrong) since the Shield Remote uses wifi-direct rather than Bluetooth .

Edit: I am wrong that the Shield Remote uses wifi-direct.

I am interested in this as well. Although nexusplayer is a very decent device, the remote feels very cheap. If the remote works well I am going to buy it

Have you guys figured this out yet? I want to buy a nexus player but I also really want the Nvidia remote specifically for the headphone capabilities

Not sure if you ever got your answer to this, but it is do-able if you're running Android 6.0 on your Nexus Player.

I just paired the Shield remote and plugged in a simple set of earbuds and the audio was immediately cut from the TV and started coming through the earbuds.
