Android 6.0 Update, now no DRM channels

by dave1253

My Nexus Player running Android 5.1.1 was working fine.

Today, my player was updated to Android 6.0 and now HDHomerun View no longer receives DRM channels.

I turned off hardware acceleration - no help. Even rescanned channels on my HDHomerun Prime. I just get the error message "Channel Not Available" for every drm channel.

What's left to do?

Have another Nexus Player still with Android 5.1.1 and it receives all the channels - so definitely something to do with the upgrade to 6.0.

Factory reset fixed it. Getting all channels now.

Not getting drm channels? I had to install hdhomerun view again. I did rescan channels on the hdhomerun prime too. Did you do both?

Factory reset worked for me the first time I did it. If you are getting the DRM channels on other devices I wouldn't rescan your HDHR Prime again. I was reading that you can do a soft reset and a hard reset. Hard reset would probably have been my next step.

I did notice yesterday that the HDHR View app was running and was left idle and stopped getting DRM channels - I had to exit the app and relaunch it, but that was it.

Just wanted to update: I just installed a new Nexus Player on the same network. The installed OS was Android 5.0.

I installed the HDHomerun View app but didn't run it.

I ran system update multiple times until it arrived at OS 6.0. Let it update and install all the apps (basically let it run overnight).

This morning, I opened HDHR and all the DRM channels were there working well.

So, basically, all is well.
