I got my new Nvidia shield TV, what are some cool Android TV things I can do with it?

So far I have updated it to 2.1, and then played a couple of my steam games with game stream (pretty awesome so far). My 32gb sd card arrive tomorrow too. I already have a wireless mini keyboard which works great with the shield. I've setup my netflix too.

I have never had an android TV so im not too familiar with it yet, have had many android tablets and phones though. So far I am enjoying it, but what are some cool things I could/should do with my new set top?

So I'm thinking I will root my shield tv so I can set it up with my ps3 controllers, I didn't like the placement of the LT(L2)/RT(R2) triggers, as it was hard to keep two fingers there (one for the top button and the other for the bottom button) because of how far the bottom triggers protrude. Plus I want to be able to play local multiplayer.

Now I want to know what cool games for android run really well on the shield tv + controller. Also I hear people have been doing good on the emulation front as well, what emulator work well with the shield, and some good games to emulate? Also I hear people install this "kodi" and set it up to get free movies and TV shows, was hopting someone could shed some light here for me.

PS-I like RPG games, my favourites being Final Fantasy 1 and any of the Fire Emblem games, I think rpg's with good class progression are great.

Personally, I love that it's compatible with the gold standard of remotes: the Logitech Harmony. Besides that, Plex and kodi are great. It games really well. Try their game streaming service. My wife and I probably use it most for Google play music to be honest.

HyperSpin - The Shield TV is one of the few devices it will run on. If you're into retro-gaming you should check it out. There is a fair amount of set up involved but it's definitely worth it.

Kodi - I wouldn't waste your time looking for free stuff on Kodi. Some of it works but most of it is a waste of your time. Kodi is much more functional as a front end for your media and it integrates flawlessly with the Android TV platform. I do everything through Kodi from accessing my Plex Media Server via PleXBMC to watching NFL games with the NFL Game Pass add-on. You can even launch Android games directly from Kodi. It's a must have for the Shield TV.

Pluto TV - they have 100+ streaming channels with some pretty decent content. A lot of it plays on loops but it's nice for when you just want something on in the background. I watch the skateboard and surfing channels a lot. Very high quality streams, no buffering... and free. You can launch it from Kodi as well.

It runs android, it has bluetooth, get a bluetooth mouse and keyboard (preferably logitech harmony hub one) and then pretty much anything you can do on a tablet you can do on your shield. Tasker would mean you can automate pretty much anything, use it to control your lights, heating etc. using the voice function.
