SlingTV seemingly starts at random

by tehForce

Is anyone else having the issue described in the title? It seems maybe when I have nothing playing, like I was distracted in the middle of a Netflix search or when another stream like PlutoTv stops playing this happens.

That is, SlingTv will just start up on the last channel that I was watching.

Nexus Player.

Wow. The other night I was watching Pluto on my Fire stick, catching some of last year's playoffs on the Baseball channel. I went upstairs and came back down after a bit and it was on Sportscenter. I asked my wife if she'd switched it to check scores or something, she said, "No." I figured I'd accidentally done it or had done it and had a brain fart.

Hearing someone else mention it--yeah, this happened to me, last weekend. So I'll back you up on that one.

YES!!!!!! It keeps happening. Not sure what is going on. Will be watching Hulu and Sling will just start up.

Reddorade

Same issue. It's a weird one

I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it because I was having this problem. I haven't used it since reinstalling it because I don't want this problem to start back up.

Ya it happens all the time. We have a joke in my house that SLING IS TAKING OVER OUR TV because of their slogan "Taking back TV" lol

pawdog

Yes it is. Glad I'm not the only one. Misery loves company. Close to pulling it from the Nexus Player lineup.

I force stop the app if this happens. Seems to clean up the issue.

I'm going to give turning Home Screen Recommendations on for SlingTV a shot. I'm curious if everyone else has that turned off specifically for sling. I guess for Hulu too (I don't a have Hulu Plus account)

edit: Nope. It kicked on again.

edit2: I force killed it.

Edit3: that seems to have done the trick. Killing it in settings. Sling needs to fix this.

This has been happening to me too. Only seems to happen during the interesting parts of anything I'm watching on Netflix. Seems to completely kill Netflix too because when I switch back it has to restart and sometimes doesn't have what I was watching in the "resume" section.

This has definitely been happening to me. I Googled around to see if it was happening to anyone else, and I didn't find anything, but I'm glad to see that someone is talking about it.

Half-baked app experiences like this are why I've started moving away from Android. At least devs care about iOS apps and fix them when they break, for whatever reason.
