It seems strange that the Fire TV has so many applications that are missing on Android TV. (i.e. History Channel app, Disney Channel apps, etc)
Is it possible to use my old Fire TV stick and copy the APKs somehow?
If so, can anybody point me in the right direction on how to do this? ...and can the applications later be updated?
I was able to do this by setting up ES File Explorer on both devices and sharing the apps from my Fire TV Stick to my Nexus Player. You'll need the Amazon appstore installed (and logged in) on your Android TV device for this to work.
I was able to get Spotify Connect working (with some issues - screensaver kills it) and HBO Go (before it was available natively - it ran like crap).
