Netflix on Nvidia Shield and DNS behaviour question

by AlexBlomkvist

Hi everyone. I'm thinking of buying the Shield. I now use Netflix on Amazon fire TV along with Unotelly DNS for changing Netfix regions so I have a few questions:

  1. Does the Shield allow DNS to be changed in the settings or it can only be done from the router directly? If so, I have to buy an extra router to install between my ISP gateway/router (cannot replace) and the Shield for DNS changing purposes.

  2. Is the Netflix app forcing Google DNS even if a different DNS is already set by the user? I so, I would need to buy a router with DD-WRT, that can reroute Google traffic instead of blocking it completely and make the app work according to the bellow article:

Thank you.

I have Nvidia Shield, Apple TV 2015 and Amazon Fire TV "2014". From all of them the best is "Nvidia Shield Android TV" when it comes to streaming. Setting Smart DNS is so easy, and I recommend you using cable better than Wifi.

to my knowledge yesterday i have reset my Nvidia Shield Andorid TV and I set Smart DNS, and I didn't notice that Netflix app forcing Google DNS. I even watched Once Open Time.
