Do Nvidia Shield TV region restricted apps show on the home screen once installed?

by AlexBlomkvist

Hi,

The question is pretty straight forward. I have read that apps that are not officially compatible with the Shield TV can be sideloaded but will not show on the home screen. What about region restricted apps that ARE compatible with the Shield like, for example, the BBC iPlayer? If the BBC iPlayer is sideloaded on a device located in the US, will it stay hidden too?

Thanks

It will show up. I had a problem with iPlayer disappearing, but turning off location settings fixed that. Now it shows up beside Netflix in the second row.

Netflix becomes hidden in regions where the service isn't enabled. With the sideload launcher you can still see it and launch it. But i think that even if you can still launch netflix (or the bbc app) if you haven't the right ip address the app will refuse to work

I subscribe to a smart DNS so can change my region for Netflix and other apps. Where can I download UK and US apps from to side load? Or how can I create a play store account for those countries? Any help is appreciated
