best black friday Android tv option

by jayemecee

Hi guys, as the title suggests, im looking for the best android TV for its price of corse. im asking for help here because after my initial search i have been overwhelmed by so many options.

What i need it to do is: stream 1080p MKB Files flawlessly, with DTS sound (max 8gb files) and be able to run something like kodi to watch sports streams. i also would like to be able to root (hack) it if needed in the future

What do you suggest?

I have been looking at the xiaomi android tv and at the chrome but im not sure if they do what i need and if they are the best option out there. i also considered building my own using the rasp pi, do you think its a good idea?

Nvidia Sheila is a great option

$150 with a remote and controller.

4K support (including Netflix) so it is pretty future proofed (assuming Google doesn't abandon AndroidTV)

No need to hack kodi on and it has a powerful processor

Black Friday is over. You might wait for CyberMonday (tomorrow).

Nexus Player is $50, but I don't know if it meets your requirements.

You might have better luck on the XDA Developer forum to discuss non-official Android TV devices. This isn't a subreddit for those devices, we don't recommend them, or have any interest in them.
