Philips Android TV - Youtube App - Add device option missing

by hollowfirst

I recently purchased a Philips Android Smart TV with the model number 49PUS7100/12. I've updated the firmware to the latest version and now I want to control the Youtube app from the phone. I get on the Youtube app the icon to send to the TV, but whenever I do that I get a connection error. I've tried to Add TV from the settings but the TV Youtube app does not have this feature. Any ideas?

Are you talking about casting? Android TV should support google cast, that sounds like what you're trying to do.

Check to make sure your Google Cast app has been updated in the Play Store.. there was a bug a couple weeks ago that just needed an update fix.

Fellow Philips user here, but the 40PUK6400 model. Works fine from within the YouTube app, I also have the chrome cast app installed but shouldn't be needed.

On a separate note, does voice search work for you? My remote doesn't have a mic so I need to use the Android TV Remote Control app, but I tap on the mic and the red icon doesn't even pulse. Tried all sorts of things and even different versions of both android TV and the app itself.
