2560x1080 21:9 UltraWide support?

by rasmii

I just got a Shield TV and am trying to use it with my 29" LG UltraWide monitor, which has a resolution of 2560x1080. The only options I'm allowed in the resolution menu are 1920x1080, leaving me with black bars on either side of my display. Is there any way I can make Android TV work with my monitor's resolution? Official options preferred but root-based workarounds are welcome too.

Not sure it'll work, but it may be worth a shot. Using adb, run:

adb shell wm size 2560x1080

It may be possible that it might not support outputting at that resolution at all. If so, just run

adb shell wm size reset

I was gonna try on my nexus player, but adb has been wonky on it since the marshmallow update.

Officially it only supports 1080p or 4k - no in between resolutions.
