Is there a way to sign in as a different user in the YouTube app?

by AlexBlomkvist

Hi,

I'm on the Nvidia Shield TV and I am not able to sign in the YouTube app as a different user. This is really crappy as I'd like to sign in another user in my family that really uses YouTube a lot and follows many channels. Is there any way around this? I'd just like to change the user in the YouTube app, not for the entire system.

Thanks.

In case anyone is wondering, I managed to sign as another user by doing the following:

  1. I sideloaded the Gmail app
  2. Launched the Gmail app from the Shield TV. I was automatically logged with my account - Account 1 . I added a second Gmail account - Account 2 (at this point is still unavailable as YouTube account from the YouTube app)
  3. I went into the Shield TV Settings/Personal (the new account shows there there too now) and removed my first account - Account 1
  4. Opened the YouTube app and logged in. Account 2 logs in automatically. 5 Opened Gmail again and added Account 1 back again

Now I have YouTube signed in as Account 2. Account 1 still shows in the Settings and I also tried to see if it's still getting recognised by Google Play from a computer. It works and I successfully pushed an app directly to the Shield TV as the Shield TV shows in Google Play as well as a device I'm logged on.

Not being able to manage and add google accounts on Android TV is the worst. Why would i even search for other yt channels when i can't add them on my subscription? At the end i caved and sideloaded the mobile yt app just for this. This is completely and utterly stupid.
