I got mine mainly so I could run Kodi (XBMC) on it, I don't do much else. The selection of apps is very small compared to what you can get on a smartphone. You're almost better off using Bluestacks on a PC connected to the TV, or another secondary Android device.
The TVs with Android integrated pretty much aren't getting timely updated and mostly have terribly slow hardware. Android on them will be unusably obsolete long before the TV itself is old.
I'd seriously recommend you to avoid "Smart" TVs as much as humanly possible (waiting for 30 seconds for the TV to boot so it can show HDMI in is just dumb).
Better off just purchasing a Nexus player
In general I don't recommend buying smart TVs, because the smart portion will be out of date long before the TV stops functioning. AndroidTV does have the potential to get fractured like Android phones, but it shouldn't be as bad because there is no carrier involvement. I would recommend a regular TV and the Shield TV. NVidia is very good about updates, and it is currently the best in the market.
