No simple way to transfer files between Android TV and Android phone?

by steamfishandrice

Sometimes I'm at work with my Shield, but the only WiFi connection I can use is my mobile hotspot. Which is fine, until the data is all fucked. I have unlimited data, but only 7GB of hotspot data. So, what I started to do was download whatever I wanted to my Nexus 6 so I could transfer it to the Shield. Problem is, that's damn near impossible for some reason. I couldn't find an easy way to move files from my phone to my Shield. I have a USB OTG cable and a flash drive, but transfer rates barely surpass 1MB/s. That's a nightmare for large file transfers.

Is there really no easier way?

You should be able to find some sort of bluetooth file transfer app that you can sideload to the Shield (through a USB cable)

If you get a USB OTG cable and a flash drive, you should be able to use the flash drive to move files around.

Couldn't you just cast them using AllCast or LocalCast or something? You wouldn't use up mobile data to cast; it'd just travel over the wifi network.
