Sony AndroidTV owners. What apps are you using?

by docfunbags

So far I'm just using Plex, Pluto.TV and Netflix. Any other suggestions?

  • Kodi - cbc news via can TV plugin. Cricket via Zem.tv, Al Jazeera live, networked files (allows pass through of audio stream to receiver) ... have issue where it increases the TV speaker volume to 100% though. can't find way to turn off the TV speakers)

  • France24 live 24/7 news

  • Haystack TV - news via online newsclips in a automatic playlist.

  • Archos video player - good job of playing hd video and the upscaling seems to work better for lower res stuff. A free plugin allows the audio pass through. good network smb access. auto scrapes info for files though.

  • ES file explorer - good way to get files and apk off usb drives.

  • Netflix - it's not UHD but the upscaling of HD content is awesome.

  • MLBtv

  • weather network

  • PhotoGuru to browse and display picasa web albums

The one that no one has mention yet: Stream Nation. Not quite as fast as PLEX, but with 20GB offree cloud media server capabilities.

Do you use the ps4 controller?

Yeah I think you're right, I'm wanting to get rid of virgin and just have an internet connection, we don't use any of the other channels outside of free view so my thinking was that the Sony TV would be the best replacement, I'm not so sure now, have to see what the new year brings in terms of updates.

For me Archos video player is better than Plex.
