What are the best options for under $100?

by iarcfsil

I just found out about Android Tv and have been searching options. My uncle has shown me his MX3 and it seems okay. I've watched Kodi and Showbox on it and love the plethora of movies and channels. Amazon is showing it at $50 but made in China. I'd rather get something not made in China to be quite honest.

I'm willing to spend a few extra bucks for a decent quality box but under $100. I've got a good stable 100mbit/sec connection and would prefer a hardwired connection. Those are my only requirements. I'm technically sound enough to root or configure a box to get it to play Kodi or whatever as well

Nexus Player + Ethernet adapter. I am not sure where the hardware is made but it's a Nexus device with software from Google.

The MX3 isn't exactly an Android TV box. It's running Android made for phones and tablets, usually on crappy hardware, with a bunch of preinstalled apps that are already free.

Aside from TV sets that have it built in, The only official Android TV devices are the Nexus Player ($50 or less), the Nvidia Shield, and the Razer Forge TV.

That said, I could only recommend the Nexus Player. The Nvidia Shield is miles better, but you'll still definitely enjoy the Nexus Player.

Theres only 2 andriod tv boxes. Nexus player which is under $100 and Nvidia shield which is $200 or $150 when on sale.

I agree with the others about the nexus player. Shop around though. MSRP is $99 but you should pay closer to $50 these days.

Shield TV for $150 and sell the controller for $50.

under $100 nexus player is your best option (and should be had for $50 or less), if you can catch a shield tv on sale for $150 though, it'll blow it out of the water and is "future-proofed" to a point, where with the nexus player you'll be upgrading much sooner.

I'm going to throw out raspberry pi 2. With openelec it runs perfectly. While the specs are worse than other devices openelec is just so nicely optimized. You could pick up 2 with your budget
