Powering on TV to HDMI input instead of Leanback?

by vazbloke

I own a Sony Bravia with Android TV. I was wondering if there's a way to set one of the inputs as default on switching on the TV instead of the Leanback Launcher. It's kind of a chore to manually select an input every time I switch on the TV

EDIT: Thanks for the suggestions guys :D

I didn't know something like HDMI CEC was a thing. I'll try setting it up now.

Not really a solution but I use a Harmony Hub remote to automate all that, I have an a Sony X850c android tv as well. I'll poke around in the settings to see if you can change the default input.

All you have to do is make sure HDMI control is on and then whatever device's input you want to start with, use that power button. For instance, if you want it to start and be on your set top box's input, make sure HDMI control is on in both device's settings and then just push "power" or "on" or whatever on the set top box. The tv will turn on and automatically go to that device's input.

You can also set the "Watch TV" selection on the TV's Action Menu (the menu that comes down from the top of the screen that you get to by pushing the top center of the touchpad remote) to whatever input you want it to be. That's a really quick and easy way to get to a desired input.

If the input device has CEC, you could set up Bravia Sync with that device (such as a PS4 or slim/super-slim PS3). Then when you power that device on, it will turn the TV on and automatically choose that input.

AFAIK the default is the last channel/input it was on before you switched the TV off. You could assign the TV button on the remote to one of the inputs, if you assign it to the HDMI input you should be able to switch to it with one press on the remote (the TV button also switches the TV on).

No idea about that specific TV, but on some you can set this. On Panasonic TVs for example, you can set a default power-on input in the Hotel Mode menu, which is hidden but easily found
