I love my Sony android tv 2015 model. I did not order the 4K maybe in 3-5 years. My dualshock 4 connects with it, can play android tv games with it. I always use my moto 360 (2) to turn volume up and down, and turn the TV on and off.
I have the smaller 42 inch model. Use it for Netflix, Plex, Google Music etc and works pretty well to be honest. Haven't tried anything fancy with it but aside from one or two minor bugs but all in all pretty happy with it.
I bought this exact model just after Christmas and it's a great TV. There is a big update available to improve the stability etc. once you start the initial set up, which will probably take an hour or so. Once it's going, it's really good! 4K videos on YouTube look amazing. I don't have a Netflix sub to test their 4K videos but expect it to be similar. I'd love to get the Nvidia Shield to go with it. I haven't got many apps on it. It can sometimes be slow so don't expect the UI to be blazing fast. I'm sure future updates will improve this. I hope you enjoy the TV!
I have the 65X850C. I got it about a week after it came out. The first thing after you un-box it, UPDATE IT ASAP. Being an early adopter it had some kinks, it was running Android 5.0 and had the same memory problems and slowness that phones running 5.0 had. When the update to 5.1 came the experience was A LOT better, MUCH smoother. I would imagine depending on how long it sat that it still has an older update on it. There are still regular updates being pushed. I'm hoping it won't lose support from Sony to quickly, and I'm hoping Marshmallow comes to it. It's also my understanding you can run different launchers on it where if you side-load apps not designed for android TV, they will still run. You can also run emulators on it.
The fact that you can't change aspect ratio in most modes gets annoying quickly. The native/default video app often plays things in incorrect aspect ratios.
I have the 1080p KDL50W800C. Came out about a year ago. I get updates from Sony, and I've always been into customizing and sideloading. So far it is okay... but some apps either don't play well with the gamepad or the remote. Otherwise, I'm waiting on XDA for any breaking news. It isn't Rooted. It's easier to use ES File Explorer after your network connections have been cached. As far as I can tell, Android TV on Sony is a whole new level for development. Minus, interface layouts. I use a generic gamepad, and it works like a charm. No, I have not subscribe to PS3 or the service providing PlayStation games via the TV (I play Android/MAME games, mostly). But... this OS is just starting.
