Device lockscreens for AndroidTV?

by PourJarsInReservoirs

I am soon replacing my ancient Minix Neo G4 with the Shield, and am excited. But one thing I could never get satisfactorily working on the G4 was a device lock. There was no lockscreen option in the ROM on the Minix, and every possible app I tried was ineffective or worse.

On the Shield, can you set a PIN? Or are there now apps available that lock the device in a sensible way? My compromise for the Minix was (after a long search) using Locx for just select apps.

Thanks.

The fuck is going on in your house that you need to lock your TV?

Side load an application called AppLock.

It can lock specific settings and applications based off of your needs. They have a PIN option that works quite well. I use it on my son's Nexus Player to avoid him going into Settings or the Google Play Store.

Since Android TV (like, actual "Android TV" and not a TV box running Android) isn't made to accept a touchscreen as its main input, there is no lockscreen. I don't see a need for a lockscreen either.

Why do you want a lock screen?
