Has anyone tested this with the Nexus Player yet? I would test it myself but won't be able to until later today.

Terrible with remote, would definitely require a mouse for extended use. Doesn't show up in my launcher and doesn't play HD.

Are you rooted? Only two people on the thread installed on a shield. Both say it doesn't show up on the launcher.

Do you have proof? Screenshot/picture/video?

Just got this installed on Shield TV.

First I didn't see this show up on leanback launcher by default. I had to use Sideload Launcher to see the app. Once loaded navigating the app with the remote is a bit cumbersome, but does work, unfortunately every video I attempt to watch immediately fails after pressing play displaying a message box "Unfortunately, Amazon Video has Stopped."

Anyone else experience something similar?

I am guessing that you installed the APK from the XDA forums and it does not play HD.
