Android TV on my Philips 7100 is a disaster

The TV was off and I've turned it on pressing the Netflix button. Netflix crashed, of course, happens a lot on this TV, and then it just started flickering. How come the crash is so ugly? Is Android TV (5.1) that unstable? It often restarts after an app crashes.

Since it was fixed by doing a hard reset (unplugging/plugging back in), it's most likely software. I have a Sony Android TV and while it's not perfect, I've never had an issue like this. However, I do restart my TV a couple times a week for the heck of it just to get a clean running session. Not sure if it helps out or not.

If it does it again, I'd factory reset it and start over.

It seems they're quitting the high end market, so I can expect even less bug fixes in the future, great. http://tweakers.net/nieuws/107313/fabrikant-van-philips-televisies-wil-178-van-238-werknemers-in-gent-ontslaan.html (google translate works fine)

What does this have to to with Android TV? Seems like a problem with the LCD board.

Prime example of why the "smart" shouldn't be integrated into TVs.

Edit: his TV is broken. If he had a separate Android TV box, he could be using it right now with another display and his post wouldn't suggest that the Android TV platform is at fault.

All these reasons and more a smart TV is a terrible idea.

Why are you using the integrated smart capabilities?

Hook a box up to it and never look back
