any nexus player remote apps besides Android TV app that has a mouse and keyboard that doesn't require root thanks and works

As far as I know, there aren't. I think the player's rc api is kept close, that's why there aren't any on iOS either.
But as a hint: if you use kodi, there are a few remotes for that. Otherwise, a hardware keyboard might be your best bet, considering they are pretty cheap.
