Any way to watch Shomi/CraveTV?

by rpgguy_1o1

I've got a Sony Bravia running Android, and I didn't realize it had it's own sandboxed version of Google play store, which doesn't include apps for Shomi or CraveTV.

Is there a way to get apps from google play store that aren't specifically for Android TV?

You can sideload them, but in most cases you have to use a mouse/keyboard for input.

Ask the developers to add support for Android Tv.

Side load them. The most common method being via ES File Explorer.

The apks you can rip from your phone with various easy methods or find online.

Edit: Googled Shomi. Thought for sure it was some Chinese shit. Silly canucks

The last time I tried to side load Shomi to my Nexus player it was the tablet app ( that was all that was available ) and the app played the wrong way. The picture was flipped sideways.

Shomi has no Android TV support, but it does at least have Chromecast support which I guess is the next best thing.
What I've done is open the movie/tv show from the shomi website in Chrome and then when the video begins to play, hit the chromecast button in the bottom corner of the video and send it to your casting device. It opens the shomi app on your TV and starts playing.

I found shomi to be crappy though so I've barely used it since signing up for a 2 month trial.
