Ehh, you really didn't buy an Android TV device, you bought a device with a version of Android probably for phone put on a box. There are like only 4 Android TV devices.

You just have a box with Android on it. Not a bad thing but not at all Google's Android TV. You can install anything that you would install on your phone/tablet. Enjoy.
My guess is you want kodi /r/addons4kodi
Install SALTS and PHOENIX !!! :)
oh and also should i throw a sd card into it. i have a portable 1tb harddrive
Return both of those items, buy a Nexus player.
