Moving App to SD Card Question

by updawg

I have a Shield TV and I am able to move applications to the SD card through the app manager. However, I have noticed the entire application doesn't move - only the base portion of the application. It seems like most larger games download external OBB files that are quite large - but are not apart of the migration to the SD Card.

Is this known? Expected behavior?

This is what I have also noticed. It will also make some games not run properly after you manually move them. Reinstall in that cases dies the problem. Also for some reason if I turn on the automatic "move apps to sd" it seems that it works better. I can't wait for the 6.0 to come.

Expected behavior. It all depends on how the app dev set it up. Its unfortunate but it is what it is.

This will be a moot point when we [eventually] get the 6.0 update.

I have also noticed this issue myself but have managed to move whole applications. My process is simple but tedious. I initially download the app to the internal memory, running it once if necessary to download additional files. Once that's downloaded I perform the usual move to SD card operation. At this point I actually unmount and remove the SD card from the system, and reboot. Android will not remove a running application from the storage it was running from, so a reboot stops the running apps and removes the ones that have been removed. Once the reboot is complete, reinsert the SD card and voila, your chosen apps have been moved to SD.
