I watch a lot of NBC Live Extra on my phone & laptop. Wanted to do the same on my TV via the Nvidia Shield TV I recently got. But silly NBC doesn't want to support chromecast/googlecast or have a proper Android TV app. So I decided to sideload the app. Managed to export the apk from my phone, install it on the ShieldTV via ES Explorer & start it up.
I can navigate some parts of it (menu drop downs) with the Shield TV remote. But I can't actually get anything to play since it requires a "touch" on the game I wish to watch. I can't get the Shield tv remote, or the game controller to do it. Also tried using the Android TV Remote app ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.tv.remote&hl=en ), which has a touchpad mode. No dice. I think I need something that shows up the mouse like cursor on the screen so I can move it around and tap stuff.
I'm not sure if this is just because the app won't work on Android TV for some underlying technical reason, or if I need to get a USB/bluetooth mouse for this type of interaction?
Also wondering if there a "Test" of sorts or some thing I can look for that can tell me how functional an app would be on AndroidTV if it needs to be sideloaded.
After a bunch more searching and reading it seems that a mouse might be the answer. Maybe.
Since I don't have any to try, gonna grab the Logitech K400 keyboard/mouse combo since some users have had success using it with Shield TV.
