Why does my Netflix suck so much on my Tv Box?

by Mapampe

I'm not sure if this is the right sub to post in, and I'm no tv box hobbyist, but I have a model MXQ tv box running android 4.2.2.

The Netflix app from the play store is nearly unusable. My remote can't navigate to the list of all genres, and I cannot use the search function. I can't access Netflix's full collection because of this. Is there any way to fix this, or to watch Netflix through Kodi?

If this is not where to ask this question, please direct me to the appropriate sub. Thanks

Can the mods make a bot that deletes post that aren't about AndroidTV. Make it so users have to label there post with ADT-1, shield, nexus player, forge....

To give you a more direct answer.

You own a piece of shit that you won't get support for and there isn't a correct sub.

Buy a nexus or a shield and move on with life.

This sub is for devices that run Google's AndroidTV. The box you have is a box that runs Android.

There are several factors at play with your setup. The version of Android on the device pretty old. The Netflix from the Play Store is intended for touch support. Your device likely has low end specs.

I don't think there is a sub for these generic android boxes. I had one (Pivios Xios) and eventually the issues Netflix was enough to make me replace it with something else (Ouya then finally and happily, a Nexus Player). If you're looking for just Netflix, look at getting a Chromecast.

Wrong sub unfortunately, and there probably isn't a proper sub. But what you've got there is one of those cheap Chinese boxes that run Android, and is usually not meant for TV at all. Hence why Android TV devices exist, like the Nexus Player or the Nvidia Shield.

Grab yourself a Nexus Player, or an Nvidia Shield if you really have money to burn. Both great devices.

Try using wireless mouse with a scroller. It works well on boxes like this.

It's the box unfortunately... Get either Nvidia Shield Tv,Fire TV(box),Nexus Player and even chromecast

Like others have said those boxes are basically running an old version of Android meant for phones/tablets modified by somebody to look OK on a TV. It works fine for Kodi but other apps off the play store will be a hit and miss since you are downloading tablet/phone apps that aren't meant for a tv screen and remote.

This sub is for Android TV which is an official version of Android made by Google for TV use (Smart TV, Nexus Player, Nvidia Shield) which is totally different from what you have.

For Netflix you are probably best off to just buy a $40 Chromecast and use your Chinese box just for Kodi.

would not recomend Nvidia Shield tv, mine was great for a couple years, then has developed "character flaws" studdering, freezing, random exiting out of app, something you would expect from something cheaper, not a $200 item from a computer part company. the problems with frequency over time. im 3 years with the device and need to buy a new one. spending more more did not insure quality.
