How to fix Youtube 'recommendations'?

by VoodooAndPowells

The recommendations on the home screen that come from Youtube are always awful and not based on anything that I actually watch. Videos from 'Jimmy Fallon' and other awful shit are always in the recommendations and I'd like to be able to get some recommendations based on things I'm actually interested in. I've tried 'disliking' those videos but they still pop up anyway. For now I've just disabled Youtube as a source of recommendations in the settings but I'd like this to actually work if possible. Thanks!

It really should pull from your subscribed Channels. I have it turned off. It's shit.

I don't have an answer to this but I noticed it as well!

The recommendations are totally out of place. Quite hard to believe as Google normally is good at predicting interests, see Google Now.

Subscribe to everything you like. I only recently did that and have maybe 100+ subscriptions. The recommendations feed is pretty amazing now.

Same shit situation. Completely useless. YouTube as a whole is a mess.

This is the same for me, It keeps suggesting me "Jimmy fallon" and "jimmy kimmel live", but i've never watched this shit. I've suscribed to a lot of channels to try to hide it, so it's less visible now inside the youtube app where the recomendations are better, but it's still always one of the first in the android tv home page suggestions which are completely bullshit.

Do other people watch YouTube from your account? They're based on your previously watched videos and trending videos. Trending videos will always show, while the previously watched ones are somewhat editable. In the Android app, selecting the context menu on a recommended video gives you a "Not Interested" option. A few uses of that many months ago, and the recommendations have been pretty perfect.

Mine are pretty good but mostly cooking videos.
