PSA: The right analog stick can be used as a mouse in sideloaded apps on the latest update for the Shield TV

Now, why in hell would they do this but not implement the actual touchpad built into the damn controller?

Holy shit, this is awesome! Also, pressing R3 acts as a mouse click. I wonder why Nvidia didn't share this in the change log.

Edit: while testing it out on World of Goo, R2 and A also acts as a mouse click.

It also works for me. This is awesome. That means every Android app can work on the shield. So cool !!!

Anyone tried with Amazon Instant Video?

Not working for me :\

edit: fixed. I needed to update the firmware for my controller. PS4 remote doesn't work; the cursor comes up, but the analog stick doesn't control it. Holding down L2 controls the Y axis, and R2 controls the X axis. Pretty hard to control.

Nice find.

Tested it in 4 different apps and the mouse activated in all of them. Too bad they couldn't add the same support to the shield remote!

For those with Sony Android TV download the TV side view app. It has mouse control too and it's pretty accurate. It's good to see Sony get that kind of feature in an app. The Android TV app should have it too.

Are there any aps to get a mouse for the Nexus Player?

If ES File Explorer would support this, that would please me greatly. FX Explorer does, but need to launch it via the side load launcher, seems to be a preferable workaround now with this new feature.
