Sony Bravia 3D Tv 2015

by reabo

Hi just bought the TV mentioned in the title. Blown away by android tv. Installed Kodi and loving the speed and apps without having to connect my laptop.

My the only problem is 3D. On this tv the option for 3d only comes up for certain apps and modes. So far it only becomes an options for any of the hdmi ports and the default video app.

The default video app support limited formats though.

Wondering if any one else with this tv has found an app that can play usb videos or is kodi like that supports 3d?

Any help is much appreciated!

I have this TV and the 3D is kind of weird on it. If you connect the glasses and put them on and then put the TV in 3D mode, everything is in 3D, even non-3D content. The actual 3D content looks a lot better but even the non-3D stuff looks pretty legit.

I don't use 3D a lot because the novelty wore off on my last TV. I didn't buy this set for the 3D feature but all the other specs were exactly what I wanted.

Sorry not a great help but I didn't think you'd get a lot of help here.

Kodi supports 3D. You need to set the settings to Expert mode, and tweak the video and system settings to get it to work.

Having said that, the 3D isn't that impressive and it's not worth the hassle really. On top, you need 3D content.

Do the HBO apps work on your TV, mine says that they're not supported on this device. Which is odd, since they installed automatically.

4k 830c here. From my experience 3D is only possible when the input signal is either 1080p/720p @ 60hz and you set Side by side manually (TriDef Ignition, SBS or OU videos) or 1080p @ 24hz when the 3d flag is set in the hdmi stream (NVidia 3DTV Play, PS4, bluray players etc.). The native android apps compatibility is hit or miss. For example to watch Plex (in your case Kodi) in 3D a few updates ago you had to run youtube and set that one to 3D, then Plex was in 3D but at some point it was stuck in 3D and the whole thing bugged a lot. The main problem seems to be that you cannot explicitly set the resolution of the android overlay so when you're in 4K you need youtube's 3D flag so that it can change your resolution to 1080p. Sadly in the end all of this turned out to be more trouble than convenience so ultimately I wired my TV to a Windows PC to have the entire playback process under control and haven't looked back since.
