It does not matter what video source or app I use, the video playback will pause for no reason in random 10-30 minute intervals. Anyone have any idea why? It happens with Kodi, Netflix, Hulu, Sling, etc. Seems to have started after the MM update. I have shutdown and restarted which didn't help. It's not critical, but it is annoying.
Do you have the shield remote? If so, try cleaning the touch volume bar. A new hidden feature is double-tap on the volume bar as a play/pause button.
Hey, the random pause thing was happening to me (on the Nexus player). I ended up doing a factory reset, and all seems well so far. I'm suspecting it's an app causing it.
I am getting those too recently on Nexus Player. Specifically in YouTube and Kodi. It has to be some app update because Nexus Player had marshmallow long back and this started happening only recently.
This has been happening to me too. Glad to see I am not the only one. I have only seen it happen in Kodi and the YouTube app, but I imagine it would happen in any app if I use them long enough. YouTube pauses with almost every video. It has nothing to do with the controller because it is off most of the time, I don't use it. I use a harmony remote. I hope this get fixed with the the next update.
Yes, it's the accessory remote. Unpair it, get an RMA. I could be wrong, you may not have the accessory remote. But that is the most common issue I see
Also got the issue on Google Play Movies, Youtube, Kodi and on Hulu it goes to a black screen, but only happens on Shield TV and not on Nexus Player for me.
Had to do a factory reset and today I will check if it keeps happening, it is weird that this could be caused by an app unless it is caused by some background service from that app, since even with everything closed after a complete reboot of the SATV this happens.
Same issue here. I've definitely seen the random pausing happen on netflix, youtube, hbonow and maybe plex. Remote was sitting on the table each time this happened. Maybe something else is sending signals that might be confusing shieldtv?
I have a few apps sideloaded as well. Maybe one of them is the culprit.
I think I have found the answer to this problem. At first, I was thinking it was a bluetooth issue, but someone from the nvidia forum figured it out. It is the current version of Sling TV causing the issue. They suggested uninstalling it entirely, but I was able to find an APK of the previous build (4.7.0.350), which has worked all weekend without any problems.
