FireTV apps (.apk's) for Androidtv

by Allenmehrer

I have a Sony Androidtv and would like to have the Amazon Prime music app so I can listen to music directly from the tv. Has anyone see how to do this? I've loaded the Amazon store onto the tv but none of the apps are available.

Thanks for the help

I don't have a Sony TV, but in my case, I went to Security, enabled installation of unknown sources, and then just Google search the amazon music apk.

No issues.

Most of the APKs work fine once you enable installation from unknown sources. There are some APKs that don't work correctly from FireTV, since they do a check for the Operating System. WatchESPN is an app that comes to mind that you have to get an APK for an Android phone. If you try to sideload the FireTV WatchESPN APK, you get errors.

Keep in mind that a lot of apps won't work properly with a remote, since they are made with touch gestures in mind. It's smart to get a mouse or keyboard to use on the TV so that you can use these sideloaded apps properly. This one works perfect.

I haven't tried to see if it works with Amazon music.

However, this is how you get apps to the AndroidTV. If you have an android device with Amazon music installed: install then open ES FileExplorer, go to library-apps. Long press the Amazon music app then select backup. It saves your back up to your /sdcard/backups. Now you'll have a back up apk. Use ES FileExplorer from your android device to your androidTV to send the file from /sdcard/backups. Install it. You'll need to keep the Amazon store installed for license checks. If it makes it through the install without parsing error usually it'll work for you.
