HDMI Switch with HDCP 2.2 Capabilities?

by TheJudgeOfThings

I currently have a Vizio 4K TV that only has one 60hz HDCP 2.2 compliant HDMI port. Major problem with my shield and other 4k peripherals. Can't find a single switch that advertises support for HDMI 2.0 AND HDCP 2.2 Capabilities.

Anyone have one or know of one?

FYI most of the cheap "switches" on the market (the ones which are 5x1) can do this (even though they might only claim HDCP 1.x capable).

This is because these switches actually route the entire DDC line, so the HDCP is in pass-through mode.

If I were you, I'd go out and just buy a few. I've had some success with HDCP 2.2 and those switches. Just make sure they can handle 4k@30 (because that is the same frequency as 4k@60) and you should be okay.

TL;DR: 90% chance a simple 5x1 4k@30 capable switch will work for you. I've used this with success. Just make sure you can return if it doesn't

Pretty sure I have the same exact TV as you. I just keep my shield plugged into that port, anything else 30fps is fine because most media is 29.97 FPS anyway.

Just get a HDCP 2.2 receiver. Hell, if you want 4k, you'll want decent audio to match it anyways. People investing into 4k systems then neutering the experience with the built in speakers never made any sense to me.

I have a Yamaha VSX series HDCP2.2 receiver as well as a Merantz one. The Yamaha has given me occasional headaches (windows would sometimes choose 1080i and the input switching is slow) but the merantz NR1606 has been flawless for me.

I mentioned Yamaha and Merantz because at the time (6 months ago) they were the only receivers on the market that had hdcp,2.2 on all channels. Alot of receivers (e.g. Sony) don't do this.
